I can appreciate the frustration as well as the ideas coming from some of the feedback comments on the “need to fix the system,” “get costs in line,” etc.

My response to this is that SDCERS is purely an administrative, not a policy-setting body. We merely administer the benefits that are written into law by our plan sponsors. My goal as president of SDCERS is to make sure we understand and adhere to this role. I think some of the problems of the past occurred when we strayed from this mission.

There are many great ideas being floating around out there, and I encourage this exchange and urge you to contact your City Councilmember or the mayor with your thoughts and comments.
