Tuesday, May 8, 2007 | Thursday, May 10, the City Council will continue reviewing budgets, and in particular, will review the budget that is in charge of financing the development of land in our city. This is where they will take away the review process that makes sure your land is used for the highest public good and is given over to developers by which to profit. The wealthy ruling class has been farming the middle class for the last century, but there has been an uptick in recent decades. They have also been using the city as their business tool, setting low-tax laws and myriad other ordinances to provide advantage from which only the few can benefit. So while plugging as many leaks as possible in their bank accounts to prevent any of their money from trickling down, they are developing the people’s land for profit, and the development services staff under Sanders’ firing thumb has no recourse but to do his will. And of course, his will is just exactly what comes handed down from the ruling class that elected him.

Sanders and all the other small-time politicians are subject to the executive control of the so-called business leaders that have descended from Horton, Spreckles, et. al. and manage the city for their profit. Look at the current statement by Mitz Lee who covets the Maienschein seat: “Lee said her tenure would represent a “continuation” of Maienschein’s priorities and his focus on district work.” This is a tenure of disgrace and supplication to “The Man.” This is a disgrace to the people who work from day to day and suffer the inequities of a local government run and ruled by the few for their own benefit. The people are the cows and the ruling class are the land owners and the little politicians are the farm hands.

When oh when will we have a revolt like the story of “Animal Farm?” People wake up, rise up and take control of your little hamlet by the sea!
