Watch out, mini-dorms. Mayor Jerry Sanders, Councilmembers Jim Madaffer and Kevin Faulconer, and City Attorney Mike Aguirre are comin’ for ya. In a “full frontal attack,” no less, according to a press release from the mayor today. (A phrase with an unfortunate connotation of nudity, or is that just me?)
Here’s the deal: The mayor has launched this page, where you can review some of his proposed regulations that will be discussed by the City Council on July 9.
And tonight, Faulconer, Madaffer and Aguirre will throw a mini-dorm discussion party, or “Student Housing Forum,” in the Council chambers on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Some of the proposed amendments include limits on the number of bedrooms in a house, the amount of concrete poured over lawns to make room for extra cars, and parking regulations.
In an e-mail announcement of the forum, Madaffer said he expects some officials from local universities to be there, as well as some experts from Orange, Calif., to discuss that city’s related ordinances.
