Thursday, May 10, 2007 | I heard a report of a stabbing at the VFW hall located at 43rd and Boston this morning during the early morning (approx. 6 a.m.) news broadcast on KOGO. It was reported as being the Grantville VFW. I called the radio station to let them know that the Grantville VFW was located on Twain Ave. near Allied Gardens and that 43rd and Boston was in or near Southcrest, which is closer to National City. I was informed by KOGO that the watch commander is the person who gave them the information for their report. Of course KOGO did their research and corrected the story.
The Grantville VFW has been out front in their opposition to Grantville being called blighted and subject to redevelopment and the related abuses. It is no secret they also allow the Grantville Action Group to hold their monthly meetings in their facility. Considering your recent reports of Lansdowne’s questionable politically motivated land use related behavior and numerous information “errors” (also known as lies) he makes, perhaps the bigger news story is how a watch commander could make such a glaring mistake in their reporting of this incident.
