The nine public swimming pools that were closed for parts of this year will be shuttered for the same three-and-a-half-month periods next fiscal year too, the Park and Recreation Department said today.
Those facilities are at:
- Allied Gardens Pool.
- Bud Kearns Memorial Pool, located in Balboa Park.
- Carmel Valley Pool.
- City Heights Swim Center.
- Colina Del Sol.
- Kearny Mesa Pool, located in Linda Vista.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Pool, located in Encanto.
- Swanson Pool, located in University City.
- Tierrasanta Pool.
Park and Recreation Department official Patty Jencks said the three-and-a-half-month closures are staggered throughout the winter season, leaving all pools open for the summertime.
To tally those closures up by council district, Councilman Jim Madaffer has three closures in his district; Council President Scott Peters and Councilwoman Toni Atkins have two; and Councilman Tony Young and Councilwoman Donna Frye have one apiece.
Clarification: A previous version of this post did not clarify that the pool closures only occur during winter months.
