Monday, May 14, 2007 | Police Chief Bill Lansdowne is a very political fellow above all else, a man who kowtows to the hierarchy responsible for his high-paying appointment as chief, rather than to traditional standards of independent-but-accountable law enforcement.

That’s what I think about Chief Lansdowne’s recent “misstatements;” his collusion with Sheriff Bill Kolender and District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis to gut City Attorney Mike Aguirre’s office; and his outrageous, mayor-sanctioned refusal to serve a court-ordered search warrant.

Now that voiceofsandiego.org has laid out Police Chief Lansdowne’s “misstatements” (which also could be called “spin” or “lies,”) Lansdowne is defended in print by our affable everyman, Mayor Sanders.
