City Attorney Mike Aguirre announced today that he has submitted three proposals for changes to the city’s constitution to the City Council, asking that they be put before voters in 2008.

If the changes to the city charter are approved, Aguirre’s office would receive the power to issue subpoenas. The proposals also call for an elected city auditor and for a reaffirmation of the residents’ right to participate in the development of their neighborhoods.
