Thursday, May 31, 2007 | Thursday’s column about the political parties spending on council elections did not mention that the contributions will be found on the secretary of state web site, but not in the City Clerk’s Office. State law says the parties are not required to file locally, even though they spend locally. So the clerk’s contribution records are woefully lacking.

Of course, the city clerk could download the contributions from the Internet, but they refuse to do so.
