Wow, this is awesome. Construction workers for Corky McMillin Cos. found tusk fossils belonging to a mastodon when they were grading for a new housing development in Carlsbad yesterday.

The AP reported two tusks, an upper jaw fragment with three teeth and vertebrae were buried underground. McMillin officials said they’d donate the find to the San Diego Natural History Museum.

They say perspective comes with age. I wonder what insight the mastodon would have on the current conditions in the local housing market.
