Sunroad Enterprises just released this statement in response to Mayor Jerry Sanders’ issuance of a stop-work order today on the entire Sunroad Centrum 1 office building:
Sunroad strongly disagrees and is deeply disappointed with the Mayor’s actions today regarding the Sunroad Centrum building. Despite Sunroad’s belief that the newest Stop Work Order lacks any basis in law or fact, Sunroad intends at this time to comply. We will review and analyze the mayor’s order that the height of the building be reduced as well.
Sunroad has fully complied with all existing Stop Work Orders covering the top 20 feet. There is no basis whatsoever to now issue a new Stop Work Order for the entire building. No one, including the FAA, Caltrans, and the pilot associations, has claimed that the building below 160 feet is unsafe. Sunroad strongly believes that this matter should be resolved in court.
Unfortunately, these actions simply expose Sunroad to greater financial damages and the City to greater liability.
We will continue to work with the FAA and all appropriate agencies toward a resolution to this issue.
