Friday June 22, 2007 | It is interesting that Mayor Sanders has asked the State Attorney General to investigate his actions in the Sunroad debacle and whether they rise to the legal definition of corruption.

It is also interesting that the investigation will be conducted by the San Diego Office of the Attorney General whose senior attorney has a very cozy relationship with the district attorney. Her relationship with the city attorney is rocky to say the least.

I expect we will not see a report from Ronne Froman now, which must be a relief both for her and Sanders.

I welcome an investigation of the Sunroad fiasco, which began in 1997, provided it is complete. There are certainly wrongdoings and those should be included in the report so the public can understand the role of the Development Services Department in the Sunroad development and the roles Jim Waring and Sanders played in trying to circumvent the law on behalf of the developer—who just happened to raise $3,600 for Sanders’ election.
