Wednesday, June 27, 2007 | In response to Nina Petersen-Perlman‘s item about the Barrio Logan planning group.
These mid-city communities have good reason to create community planning groups. This may be the only way they can prevent developers from plowing them under to building the cookie cutter condos that are rising throughout San Diego.
A diverse group is now teaming up to protect one neighborhood just east of downtown… Imperial Ave. between 22nd and 25th.
Rebuilding together, the San Diego Building Trades Council, Councilman Ben Hueso and 10news are planning a real “barn raising” for August 4….renovating homes and businesses. We hope this makeover will create a new centerpiece for a long neglected community, instill pride and inspire residents to create a planning group to preserve their community.
