As our own Evan McLaughlin reported in June, City Council candidates began emerging for the 2008 race last month, when the one-year campaign fundraising window allowed under the law started.

Yet a review of campaign finance records filed with the San Diego County Registrar of Voters shows that not a single candidate has yet indicated his or her intention to run for one of three seats on the San Diego Unified School District board that will filled in 2008.

One incumbent, Mitz Lee, has already announced that she will run for City Council instead, leaving an open seat. The other two, Luis Acle and Shelia Jackson, have not yet made their intentions public.

“I will not be making any announcement on that for quite a while,” Acle said.

Jackson was not available Friday afternoon. I will post an update as soon as I talk to her.
