We’re honing our ring-tossing skills and slathering our noses with SPF 45: Survival in San Diego‘s part of a local blog carnival this week called “The San Diego Special Edition.”

Other bloggers in the carnival present offerings including the history of pro basketball in San Diego, the art of the double-coupon at the grocery store and a what-to-expect piece on the opening day at the Del Mar racetrack.

Survival’s claim to fame in the July 17 edition is this post about a bit can-collecting folklore I picked up when I followed Tanya Hatch for an afternoon around Pacific Beach.
