DataQuick released its statistics for foreclosure activity in the state today, and the picture’s not pretty.
Statewide, the number of homes lost to foreclosure (recorded trustees deeds) were up 799 percent in the second quarter this year, compared to second quarter 2006. The 17,408 foreclosures was the highest number on record for DataQuick, which has tracked real estate statistics for the state since 1988.
San Diego County homes in that category numbered 1,714, a year-over-year increase of 487 percent.
The number of defaults filed — those notices sent to homeowners who have missed mortgage payments — rose 146.5 percent last quarter in San Diego County.
Statewide, 53,943 such notices were filed, a 158 percent increase over the second quarter in 2006.
