The Rainbow Municipal Water District has signed an agreement with Connecticut-based Poseidon Resources Corp. to purchase water from the company’s proposed desalination plant in Carlsbad, which will convert 50 million gallons of seawater into drinking water each day,.
With the agreement, the desalination plant has commitments for 80 percent of its 50 million gallon daily production. The Rainbow MWD, which serves unincorporated communities of Rainbow, Bonsall and part of Fallbrook, agreed to buy about 6.5 million gallons daily.
