Local labor unions have promised a “major announcement” tomorrow about the future of the Gaylord bay-front development in Chula Vista.

The announcement at 10 a.m. Wednesday will be held after a vote by the San Diego Building & Construction Trades Council on how to proceed with the project, according to a press release.

Gaylord Entertainment withdrew from negotiations earlier this month over the question of where the company would find the estimated 6,500 workers it needed to build a proposed 400,000-square-foot convention center and 2,000-room hotel.

The San Diego Union-Tribune, a local newspaper, reported earlier today that Gaylord had made an offer to get local labor organizations back at the negotiating table.

We’re trying to find out more details about the vote, but haven’t heard back from local labor leaders yet. Stay tuned.
