Carl DeMaio announced today the sale of the private think tank he has used to pitch financial reforms to City Hall.
DeMaio is selling the Performance Institute for an undisclosed amount just as he plans his run for the District 5 seat on the San Diego City Council in 2008.
The Performance Institute has provided DeMaio a forum from which he has opined on the city of San Diego’s budget practices and championed the city’s efforts to use outsourcing as a cost-saving tool. The company also holds training programs on management for government officials nationwide.
The company, which DeMaio founded in 2000, will be sold to Thompson Publishing Holding Co. along with DeMaio’s other company, the American Strategic Management Institute. DeMaio said he will continue on in advisory positions for both companies.
