Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 | Dan Shea’s commentary “The Strong-Hack-Form of Government” reflects the growing disillusionment of so many members of the public of different political stripes with this mayoral administration. How could anything get worse after the Murphy administration? Sunday’s Op-Ed piece in the Los Angeles Times by Steven Erie and Norma Damashek “San Diego’s backroom ‘reform’ expose the Mayor’s Charter Committee as the” Committee for making things worse in San Diego”.

I would like to add a name to Dan Shea’s list of PR flacks that are responsible for a failed Sanders’ administration: Tom Shepard, the most destructive of them all. Even though he has no official position in San Diego government, he exercises obscene control of technical and management policy decisions he is so ignorant about, his supreme confidence in his intellectual skills boggles the mind.

But then he doesn’t have to answer to the voters when things go wrong — only to his masters in the business community that still run this city and are running it into the ground. As implied in the Erie-Damashek piece, these faceless few, hope to enhance their profit margins by tricking voters into charter changes that will strengthen their stranglehold on public funds.
