Poseidon Resources Corp., the Connecticut-based developer of the Carlsbad desalination plant, announced today that it has orders for all of the water the facility would produce.

The Olivenhain Municipal Water District was the final customer to sign on, agreeing to buy about 10 percent of the supply from the 50-million-gallon-per-day plant, which would convert salty seawater into drinking water. The district serves about 58,000 customers from Encinitas to San Marcos.

The Carlsbad plant is still working its way through the regulatory process. Two significant hearings before the State Lands Commission and California Coastal Commission are scheduled later this year.
