Here’s one more interesting tidbit from the solar energy proposal released yesterday by local engineer and Sunrise Powerlink critic Bill Powers.

When asked about the need for a quick ramp up in the $1.5 billion solar proposal’s deployment, Powers pointed to this graph:

That shows Germany’s increase in solar from 1990 to 2005, a 15-year period in which solar use increased from almost nothing to 1,600 megawatts — slightly less than what Powers proposed locally.

“The program would start slow and finish fast,” Powers said. “It is ambitious, but it’s already been done in Germany.”
