Friday, Oct. 26, 2007 | During our recent disaster where a good portion of the Fifth District was on fire, our county supervisor Bill Horn was nowhere to be found. On every television station, we saw police chiefs, fire captains, mayors, City Council members, supervisors from every other district, but no Bill Horn.
Where could he have been? Playing golf? Getting a new wardrobe? Out of town?
The people of the Fifth District really want to know why he was mysteriously absent during our time of crisis.
Everyone else seemed to do their jobs, Larry Himmel even lost his home but kept on reporting needed information to the public but Bill Horn was nowhere to be found.
His office stated that he did visit a few shelters during the fire, Rancho Santa Fe maybe — seems I never saw him at the shelter as well as many others who waited out the fire storm wondering if their home survived but once again, no Bill Horn.
This is the type of no-show leadership we come to expect from Bill Horn but it’s unacceptable for him to vanish when his district is in peril. Let’s tell Bill Horn that this is his last term in office, we deserve better in the Fifth District.
