Mayor Jerry Sanders said today that he tapped his top manager to review the city of San Diego’s response to last week’s firestorm.

Chief Operating Officer Jay Goldstone will review areas of the city’s operations that were involved in handling the firefighting and evacuation efforts, such as the coordination of the Reverse 9-1-1 telephone system and the management of Qualcomm Stadium as a shelter.

“There were things we could have been, should have been, done better and I want to learn from this experience,” Sanders said.
