Roughly 150 military families in San Diego Unified School District will now qualify for state preschool after California legislators adjusted rules that counted military families’ housing allowances toward their income, according to district spokesperson Ursula Kroemer. The old restrictions bumped some military families out of the eligible income range.

State Superintendent Jack O’Connell will visit Baypoint Preschool in San Diego tomorrow morning to celebrate the change, accompanied by San Diego school board member Shelia Jackson, Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, and Sue Coyle, superintendent of Coronado schools.
