San Diego County’s foreclosure filings — the records filed when a house is in default, noticed for auction or bank-repossessed — totaled 4,285 in October, more than two-and-a-half times as many as were filed in October 2006. The statistics were released this morning by national foreclosure data firm RealtyTrac.
The national foreclosure rate increased 94 percent over the year. San Diego County filings-per-household were more than twice the national average in October, and the county was ranked 16th in the state for most filings.
