Lee Burdick, a Democrat with ties to the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, declared today that she will run for city attorney in 2008.

Burdick becomes the fourth attorney to announce intentions to challenge City Attorney Mike Aguirre’s reelection bid next year.

Burdick is the in-house attorney for Jimsair, a charter plane carrier that operates out of Lindbergh Field. She moved to San Diego five years ago from Northern California, where she founded a law firm and specialized in administrative and telecommunications law.

She joins an ever-growing field of candidates in next year’s city attorney race. In addition to Aguirre and Burdick, contenders include Dan Coffey, a lawyer and chemical engineer; William Gentry, a deputy district attorney; and Judge Jan Goldsmith, a former state legislator.
