I just got in touch with Manny Guaderrama, a homicide spokesman for the San Diego Police Department. I asked him about the body found in City Heights whose fate I’ve been following.

The man was probably killed in a hit and run, Guaderrama said, and is unlikely to be investigated as a homicide. Investigators aren’t yet sure, he said, and the Homicide Unit will be keeping the case until they confirm that it’s not a homicide, at which they’ll pass it on to the Traffic Unit.

So the two-week homicide-free streak is probably still intact.
