Well, I guess I should have seen it coming.

Yesterday I wrote this post about the city’s two-week homicide-free streak. In the post, I expressed concern that I might jinx the city by making the two-week claim.

Sure enough, I just got an email from the San Diego Police Department informing me that the department is investigating a suspicious death in City Heights.

Early this morning, the press release states, officers responded to a report of an injured male in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Winona Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man who had already died, apparently as a result of suffering trauma to his head and upper body.

The death might not be a homicide, however.

The man appears to have died as the result of a traffic collision, the press release states. If the police establish that he was killed deliberately, this could end the homicide-free streak. Then again, it could have just been an accident.

I’ll update this blog as and when I hear more details.
