Eight Chargers were named to the Pro Bowl on the AFC and NFC teams released Tuesday by the NFL.

Antonio Cromartie snags an INT against the Raiders

Six of the players are returning picks and two, offensive guard Kris Dielman and cornerback Antonio Cromartie, made their first Pro Bowl.

The repeat picks are running back LaDainian Tomlinson (fifth), fullback Lorenzo Neal (fourth), tight end Antonio Gates (fourth), nose tackle Jamal Williams (third), outside linebacker Shawne Merriman (third) and special teams player Kassim Osgood (second).

On Monday, Tomlinson was asked who, more than any other player from the Chargers, deserved the Pro Bowl.

“Cromartie,” LT said. “Antonio Cromartie. What he’s done this year has proved he’s an elite corner in this league.”

Cromartie leads the league with 10 interceptions, which also established a Chargers’ record for a season, even though he’s only started six games. He returned on interception for a touchdown against Houston and a missed field goal for a touchdown against Minnesota.
