Congrats, San Diegans. You should feel proud of yourselves again — you’ve landed atop another list.
This time, it’s Forbes magazine’s list of vainest cities. San Diego ranked third.
Cities’ vanity was ranked according to its plastic surgeons per capita. Salt Lake City ranked as the vainest city, followed by San Francisco. San Diego was joined by San Jose and Miami at third place.
From the article:
The bodies on display in this year-round beach city heighten the pressure to look taut and firm. When water activities fail to achieve the desired results, residents can turn to one of the city’s 115 board-certified plastic surgeons. Per 100,000 people, that translates to 5.2 plastic surgeons practicing in San Diego.
The magazine also included other figures detailing the city’s vanity, including the spending habits of its residents. The article said San Diegans spend $3,177,072 on hair coloring, $135,177 on hair growth products, $914,060 on facial cosmetics and $6,205,713 on skin care every year.
