San Diego Unified school board member Mitz Lee is sticking with the school board, according to the San Diego Reader. Lee had planned to leave the school board, running for a spot on City Council.
The Reader attributes Lee’s decision to “an impeding school district budget crunch and the arrival of a new superintendent.”
The news follows former school board candidate Scott Barnett’s announcement that he was no longer running for the seat Lee would have vacated. John Lee Evans, a third candidate, could not be reached for comment early Wednesday afternoon on whether Lee’s decision would affect his candidacy.
Lee did not return calls from voiceofsandiego.org this or last week.
