Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2007 | Don’t you just love hearing the public pledges like “commitment to democracy,” “doing what is best for the people,” “smart growth,” and “acting in the best interest of the residents of San Diego,” from the lips of many civic leaders made in front of the cameras to honor their commitment to civic virtue, then breach it later?

Which is more beneficial to the majority of San Diegans? More expansive waterfront parkland for those who live here, or still more low-wage jobs serving more traffic congestion-drawing downtown tourist attractions and services?
