As a small business person doing business in China, I can tell you that you’ve missed an important point in your article.

Our region’s small and median sized businesses can’t take advantage of the Asian markets without political leadership (just look at government officials that lead the many Asian trade missions to San Diego!). Having an important elected official along on trade missions opens doors and creates relationships that lead to business for our region. And that means more jobs for San Diegans. The supervisor is making a difference for the small business community with his trade mission leadership and should be congratulated for it!
