Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 | So the Union-Tribune continues to bleed talent. It already has no national news of its own and the local section, as I will always remember it as, seems to be a client of Jenny Craig.

My own top choices for early retirement are Editor Karen Winner, editor of the Editorial Page, the inimitable Bob Kittle and the genuine political troglodyte, Robert J. Caldwell (and I have often wondered what Bill Osborne actually does).

The sooner the Union-Tribune is sold to a publisher who cares the better.
