Just 1,826 homes sold in the county last month, according to statistics released today by DataQuick Information Systems.
That’s the second lowest number of sales on record with the firm, which has been tracking real estate in the region since 1988.
The 995 resale detached homes sold marked a record low sales tally for that category. The total was down 7.4 percent from December and represented a year-over-year 33.5 percent drop.
Resale condo sales, a total of 443, dropped 15 percent over December 2007 and 30 percent from the number sold a year ago January.
And just 388 new homes sold, a 55.6 percent drop from December and a 39.7 percent drop from January 2007.
