San Diego Unified’s school board is pushing staffers to keep researching a potential school bond for November’s ballot, including a makeover of the district’s central offices on Normal Street.

“It would be short-sighted not to include a major renovation of this Education Center” in the bond, said trustee Luis Acle, who raised the issue. Acle also proposed renovating a historic building annex, currently used as storage, as a museum housing district-owned artwork.

The fall bond would be a continuation of Proposition MM, passed by voters in 1998.
