Mayor Jerry Sanders was out today again touting ways to conserve water, announcing a $175 rebate for high-efficiency clothes washers being offered by the city of San Diego and San Diego County Water Authority. High efficiency washers use as much as 60 percent less water than older models.
The city is also offering a host of rebates for water-conserving appliances used by homes and businesses. A list of voucher programs is here.
Sanders delivered his comments at the Fish Merchant restaurant in San Carlos, praising the restaurant’s owners for cutting their water consumption 40 percent since October. It was the latest of several recent press events Sanders has held to focus on conservation, a subject we visited in a recent story.
