I just spoke to Bill Nemec, president of the San Diego Police Officers Association, which endorsed John Hartley in his run for District 3 of the City Council. Hartley was arrested last week by San Diego police on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Nemec told me the POA will be meeting tomorrow and that the union will be seriously reassessing its endorsement of Hartley.

“We are going to be reevaluating, for sure,” Nemec said. “The endorsement will certainly be a topic of conversation tomorrow.”

The POA endorsement is a valuable asset for City Council candidates. The POA issued a joint endorsement of Hartley and Todd Gloria for the District 3 seat earlier this month.
