George is known as an innovator in local public safety leadership. He oversaw the successful integration of women into the fire service. This was a difficult challenge in the 1980s. It was not popular with the firefighter workforce at the time. It was the right thing to do, and George saw it through by leading recruitment campaigns. This allowed the city to pick highly qualified woman that are today’s fire service leaders like current fire chief, Tracy Jarman. San Diego Fire-Rescue is known nationally today for our successful integration of women into the fire service.

Under Chief George George’s leadership, SDFD introduced paramedics onto the fire engines dramatically cutting the response time for advanced life support to most homes in San Diego. Today San Diego’s EMS system is recognized as a national model of service and innovation.

It is this type of proven leadership that George is ready to apply to the problems affecting city residents. He is going to fight for the citizens so that they receive their fair share of city services for the property taxes they pay. George George is by far the superior choice to represent his community of District 5. He is a respected, experienced public safety leader, and a dedicated family man who will clearly serve his fellow citizens with honor and integrity.
