Mayoral candidate Steve Francis continued his on-air assault of City Hall recently with a new ad in which he chucks City Hall’s last budget into one of the shiny green rubbish bins in Little Italy.
Here’s a transcript of the ad:
(Francis)The city’s budget is $2.9 billion. It’s full of inside deals, giveaways and favors to big donors.
It’s time to stop it.
(Narrator) As mayor, Steve Francis will stop lobbyists from sitting on boards and commissions. He’ll open up the city books for you, the public to see.
(Francis) I won’t take a penny from special interests — so I can fix this budget mess and approve services. It’s time to throw out the garbage. (Francis throws the budget into a trash bin.)
And the ad itself:
You would think with the size of the budget, Francis might have been able to find a recycling bin instead.
Correction: This post previously stated that Francis was referencing the mayor’s latest budget proposal. The ad references the current budget adopted by the City Council last year. We regret the error.
