Well, after all of our struggles, it looks like the famous Fred Sainz e-mail finally got released.

Only it didn’t get released to us.

Sainz decided instead to give in to The San Diego Union-Tribune despite the requests we had placed under the Public Records Act. It appears that politics trumped law in the Mayor’s Office.

Anyway, the office sent it to us today after we protested. Here it is. Judge for yourself whether it was really worth this whole hullabaloo. Warning: If you’re sensitive to foul language, don’t read it.

This also raises another question: Should Sainz have been involved with the decisions of whether and how to release an e-mail he authored that is central to a lawsuit against the city of San Diego? Let me know what you think.
