The union representing officers of the San Diego Police Department has decided to endorse Jan Goldsmith in his race to take the City Attorney’s Office from incumbent Mike Aguirre.
The Police Officers Association didn’t endorse in the primary election, which Goldsmith won June 3. But with Aguirre and Goldsmith the only two players left in the race, the endorsement isn’t a huge surprise.
“I appreciate it very much,” Goldsmith said. “They’re part of the law enforcement team and I’m delighted to have them on board.”
Goldsmith already has the endorsements of prominent law enforcement figures District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis and Sheriff Bill Kolender.
