Friday, June 20, 2008 | Kudos to the Board of Education and staff at San Diego Unified School District for developing a school budget that is finally comprehensible to laymen. This major “reform” has been needed for so long, was frequently talked about, but never delivered before now. Even if the money-numbers change through the spring and early summer as the state figures out its revenues, the SDUSD new budget format provides a window into the complicated and expensive process that delivers public education to our kids. I look forward to reading it without an interpreter.

Thanks also to voiceofsandiego.org education writer Emily Alpert for following this story until it became a reality.
