The board of directors at the Southeastern Economic Development Corp. is holding a special meeting on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m., board member Cruz Gonzalez told me.

The special meeting comes two weeks before the regularly scheduled board meeting, which takes place on the fourth Wednesday of every month. It is being held in the wake of nearly three weeks of growing scandal at the agency which culminated in the firing of SEDC President Carolyn Y. Smith on Wednesday.
