At a meeting this afternoon, the Southeastern Economic Development Corp. board will consider a proposal to remove Artie M. “Chip” Owen as chairman, according to the meeting’s agenda.

The board will also hear reports from last week’s meeting of the agency’s Personnel and Budget Committee. It will consider reports on the agency’s response to the city’s inquiries into SEDC’s budget and operations; the status of a performance audit being completed; the appointment of a senior city accountant to SEDC; and a report reviewing SEDC’s employee compensation policies and practices.

The board will convene into closed session to discuss various anticipated litigation. It is scheduled to discuss City Attorney Mike Aguirre’s lawsuit against outgoing President Carolyn Y. Smith and potential litigation against local newspaper San Diego Voice and Viewpoint, according to the agenda.

The meeting is at 4:30 p.m. at SEDC’s headquarters at 4393 Imperial Avenue. I’ll be there.
