Activists who oppose the use of rifle ranges in San Diego Unified high schools for Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, a military science class, are ramping up their campaign again and planning to protest at the school board meeting today.

The Education Not Arms Coalition has also questionedwhether students are improperly enrolled in military-related classes without parent permission. The group includes part of a memo from Superintendent Terry Grier about the practice in their press release, which stresses that schools must have informed consent from both the student and their parent or guardian before they are placed in military science classes.
