Following the advice of some sage readers, we’ve recently begun sending out a fairly regular e-mail alert in the afternoons/early evenings. The P.M. Update, as it’s called, pulls together all the new content we’ve added to the site throughout the day and delivers it together as one package to your e-mail inbox.

Now, if you’re signed up for our e-mail alerts, you obviously know this already. If you’re not, sign up! Click here to go to our sign up page.

Here’s what you get:

  • Daily News Alerts: Each night, we send out an alert with all of our new daily content on it, such as our in-depth news stories, commentary, and the latest blog posts.
  • Breaking News Alerts: Be the first to find out when big news breaks. The big breaking news is delivered straight to your e-mail.
  • The P.M. Update: As explained above, a nice rundown of all the day’s new content ahead of the evening’s deadline.

And, if you sign up for the housing alerts, we’ll send you alerts when things like this happen today — the monthly release of the region’s key housing data.

We also send our periodic updates on the internal happenings here at voiceofsandiego.org. That means you’ll get the inside scoop on our different events and fundraising.

And, speaking of events, check out my colleague Scott Lewisnote on the upcoming post-election discussion we’re hosting Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.

Here are the basics (via Lewis):

On Nov. 12, we’ll be hosting a panel discussion “The Election and the Future of San Diego Politics.”

If you have time, please come and join the discussion.

I’ll be moderating and the speakers are: Jennifer Tierney, a political consultant who’s running Sherri Lightner and Todd Gloria’s campaign for City Council; Tom Shepard, who’s been the brains behind many a successful political campaign in San Diego, including the mayor’s June re-election; Will Carless has covered the city attorney’s race for some time now for us — his profiles of the primary candidates were excellent and he’s had to take serious flak from both sides and yet done an impressive job; and Andrew Donohue, who’s overseen all our election news coverage.

We’ll be hosting the event at this address:

NTC Command Center at Liberty Station
Meeting Room 1
2640 Historic Decatur Rd.
San Diego, CA 92106

Again, it’s Nov. 12, at 6 p.m.

See, these are the kinds of cool things we’re doing over here that you might miss out on if you don’t get our alerts. So go ahead, sign up now.

ANDREW DONOHUE
