Remember all that talk about the big youth turnout for Barack Obama? Here in Golden Hall there is a throng of even younger young’uns — not out to vote, but out for a field trip. A Catholic school in Lemon Grove, Saint John the Cross, sent roughly 60 of its 8th graders out to the county registrar and then to mingle in Golden Hall. It’s the culmination of an election-themed unit in their social studies class, which included a school-wide election where students had to register to vote.
Eighth grader Sarah Kennedy swears that Obama “won by a landslide” at Saint John the Cross’ student election, but her teacher Aaron Gonzalez begs to differ — all the votes haven’t been counted yet.
