I noted in the caption for this photo that plastic bags like this one line Chollas Parkway in the Oak Park neighborhood of San Diego.

What I didn’t point out is that the litter doesn’t only consist of plastic bags, and it’s not by any means contained to the roadway.

If you step across the road and go down through the trees into Chollas Creek, you’ll see mounds of trash piled up just feet from the water.
