Aspiring young writers: We are looking for you.

voiceofsandiego.org is proud to announce its first ever high-school essay contest. One gifted San Diego County junior or senior will receive a $2,500 college scholarship for their efforts answering one of these three questions:

  • Should the harbor seals be allowed to remain in the Children’s Pool in La Jolla?
  • Should the government and taxpayers help pay for a new football stadium for the Chargers and San Diego State University?
  • Should public school teachers be paid based on their performance? And, if so, how do you judge performance?

Essays must be 1,000 words or less and students must be enrolled in an accredited high school in San Diego County. For full details of the contest, check out this flyer.
